
The conceptual and multifaceted composer/ conductor Tan Dun has made an indelible mark on the world's music scene with a creative repertoire that spans the boundaries of different category. On 8-9/1/2010, he will be conducting Crouching Tiger Concerto, winner of the Oscar for Best Music (Score), as well as Northwestern Suite No. 1 Water Rock n' Roll and Concerto for Improvisation. The occasion also marks the premiere of his Internet Symphony - Eroica for Youtube Symphony Orchestra in Chinese music arrangement. Anssi Karttunen, the Finnish cello virtuoso who played with the HKCO at the Saint-Denis Arts Festival in France in 2005, will be sharing the concert stage with the Orchestra again in the performance of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon together with Chau Chin-tung. Chau is the Principal Percussion of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, he will also perform in the Concerto for Improvisation : Of Birds and Man.
