姚丙炎的古琴主要傳授於其子公白與公敬兩人及海外少數求教者。公白得其父風格中動的一面，右手輕靈干淨、揮洒自如；公敬則得其靜的一面，恬淡又含而不露。都深得其神韻。一九九一年香港雨果公司將其父子三人錄音合集出版，是為《姚門琴韻》。而姚氏其中一種著述《唐代陳拙論古琴指法》在他逝世二十二年后的今天才得以出版。
