Leslie Cheung

Leslie Cheung (September 12, 1956-April 1, 2003), is one of the most successful artists in the diversified development of the performing arts circle and in commercial and artistic careers. He has extensive influence in China and Asia. Leslie Cheung became famous in 1983 with the song "The Wind Continues To Blow". From 1986 to 1987, he won the Golden Melody Gold Award for two consecutive years at the Top Ten Golden Melody Award Ceremony. From 1988 to 1989, he won the Top Ten Most Popular Male Singer Award for Golden Songs and the Gold Award for Best Male Singer on the Popular Music Chart. In the 1980s, with the albums "Amour" and "The Greatest Hits of Leslie Cheung", he became the first Chinese singer to hit the Korean record market and broke the sales record of Chinese records in Korea. The album "Favorite" released in 1995 sold more than 500,000 copies in South Korea, breaking the sales record of Chinese-language records in South Korea again. In 1999, he won the Hong Kong Music Circle's highest honor big gold needle award. In 2010, the "Five Major Musicians Who Known Around the World in the Past 50 Years" held by CNN in the United States ranked third. On April 1, 2003, Leslie Cheung fell to his death from the 24th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong. This sudden news shocked the entire Chinese society. Because the incident happened suddenly and the day of the incident coincided with April Fool's Day, many fans and people thought it was just a joke, so they couldn't accept the news once they knew the news was true.
